Monica

Meet Monica. She's a Project Manager.

Scaling the heights of immersive technologies

I just love working with tech, and I've been working with AI technologies for many years. Now, here at Novo Nordisk, my primary focus is implementing augmented reality across all the company’s production sites. In the Immersive Technologies team, we work both with implementing Virtual and Augmented Reality, but my primary focus is being a Project Manager for our Augmented Reality implementations.

Wanderlust

⚘ I love hiking and spending time outdoors in nature.

Joining

That’s what friends are for

Before joining, I was actually working for Novo Nordisk as a consultant, so I kind of knew the family before I became a full-blooded part of it. A friend of mine was already working in the unit I joined, and I was told some great stories about the team and the projects they were working on. So that made it an easy decision, and one I haven't regretted ever since. The only thing I really regret was not buying some stocks in the company back then :-)

Company

Room for you, and you, and you…

Due to the company's size and the scale of operations, I expected Novo Nordisk to be at the forefront of technology, and I wasn't disappointed. It's amazing to be a part of a company where digital and innovative investments have such a high priority. Adding to that, working here is like being part of a super huge and expanding family where there is room for everybody! The company consists of so many different people, with different perceptions, perspectives, and experiences – and it is super rewarding to tap into that! Having a diverse team is a key to success, and I learn a lot from that diversity every day.

Hole-in-one

I do a lot of cool projects. Novo Nordisk is growing fast, so we are onboarding a lot of new people all the time. Something that can make a big difference for my colleagues across the world and the company is if we can reduce the training time for new employees. I recently worked on implementing an augmented reality solution to help employees at an international site become more proficient with their daily tasks. The result was that all new operators passed their certification test on the first try – or "Right-First-Time" as we call it – and at the same time, we helped reduce the time spent by trainers to teach new colleagues a task.

Hold your breath

I have tried extensively to become good at freediving, but I have realized that it is too difficult and super stressful for me, despite it being supposed to be the opposite.

Team

Practice makes perfect

I mainly interact with the project managers, project owners, and training consultants at the sites where we develop the solutions. They are typically responsible for the implementation and engagement at their site, and it is then our role to try to help and enable them to succeed with the processes they are implementing. Changing people's behaviour can be tough, and in my team, we challenge the way people learn and work. Especially when it comes to working with hardware, it requires that people change their behaviour. But when we succeed, it is such a satisfying experience.

Tech

For the love of Office

When working with augmented reality, we mainly use the Microsoft HoloLens and connected software. For instance, we create our training processes in Microsoft Guides. It's pretty much Microsoft all the way, and I should, of course, be honest and also mention the lovely Office package

Into thin air

✺ I have a passion for watching mountaineering documentaries and movies, especially the ones about climbing Mt. Everest. It fascinates and scares me at the same time.
